Mercedes-Benz’s flagship has had a comprehensive update: more than 50% of the car is newly developed, updated, and refined. “The new S-Class delivers the most comprehensive update within one S-Class generation,” boasts Mercedes.
The purpose-built Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) is the supercomputer behind the new S-Class, powering every domain and integrating all systems into a single intelligent ecosystem. Linked to the Mercedes‑Benz Intelligent Cloud, it enables over-the-air updates for numerous vehicle functions, keeping the S‑Class up to date and future-ready.
Extensive sensor technology and a powerful new computer architecture enable next-generation assistance. MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO even supports seamless point-to-point driving in dense urban traffic – available in China at market start, in the US later, and in further markets once regulations permit.

Boardroom on wheels
First-class rear-seat business experience: the First-Class rear compartment, MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment with dual 13.1-inch displays, two detachable MBUX remote controls, and integrated video conferencing transform the rear cabin into a fully connected workplace or a serene personal retreat.
“Quiet strength, effortless power: a wide range of new and refined electrified powertrains, from V82F and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines to a plug-in hybrid, delivers hallmark S-Class smoothness, while AIRMATIC or optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL with intelligent damping for longer speed bumps and standard 4.5° rear-axle steering with up to optional 10° ensure exceptional comfort and agility,” Mercedes explains.
Innovations such as the heated seat belt, Digital Vent Control, and a new electric air filter with ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL enhance everyday comfort, well-being, and the interior atmosphere.
“The new S‑Class continues Mercedes‑Benz safety leadership with an enhanced adaptive restraint system, including PRE-SAFE® Impulse belt pretensioners and up to 15 airbags,” Mercedes explains.
The new S‑Class asserts its status with a bolder silhouette and, for the first time, an illuminated grille, enlarged by around 20% and accented with redesigned, three-dimensional chrome stars.
“For more than 100 years, the upright Mercedes star has symbolised brand heritage and pioneering spirit. Today, it enters a new era: for the first time, the star on the S‑Class is optionally self-illuminated.
“Unmistakable, it becomes part of the S‑Class light signature and gives the vehicle a radiant presence at night. The contemporary light design radiates prestige at its most beautiful and transforms every arrival, whether at a grand event or simply returning home, into a memorable occasion.”

Effortless performance
“From 8- and 6-cylinder engines to 6-cylinder diesel engines and a plug-in hybrid, customers can choose from a wide variety of options – and every one of them contributes to the signature sublime smoothness that defines the S‑Class experience,” promises Mercedes.
There are several engines available in the new S-Class. The top motoring is the new V8 M177 Evo, with 537 hp and 750 Nm of torque. Apart from that, there are 6-in-line engines (gasoline and diesel) and the already known PHEV variant.
Prices in Belgium are already known: they range from €123,904 for the S 350 d 4Matic up to €145,289 when one sticks to an ICE engine (with mild hybridization).
The PHEV versions cost €136,972 for the S 450e (the only S-class model without all-wheel drive) and €152,097 for the S 580e 4Matic. Mercedes hasn’t yet provided a figure for pure-electric driving. After that, the 6-cylinder engine cuts in to aid the electric motor.
140 years of innovation
“We’re celebrating 140 years of Mercedes‑Benz and 140 years of innovation and excellence. No car embodies this legacy more than the S-Class. Brilliant engineering, effortless comfort, quiet confidence, timeless design. That’s what the Mercedes star stands for. And that’s what the S‑Class delivers. The new S‑Class remains our benchmark, and our promise. It blends its rich heritage with bold ambition for what’s next,” says Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management, Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
Gordon Wagener, Mercedes’ Chief Design Officer, will be leaving the company shortly. But this S-Class is, of course, still from his hand: “Flagship of Mercedes‑Benz, the S‑Class has always set the benchmark in automotive excellence.”
It embodies everything our design stands for: timeless elegance, perfect proportions, and a strong presence. It is the purest expression of our design philosophy, Sensual Purity. The new S‑Class unites this tradition with forward-looking innovation in a truly unique way, redefining itself as an icon once again.
