Toyota has launched the C-HR+, a new C-segment electric SUV. While it shares its name with the hybrid SUV that went on sale 10 years ago, it’s actually based on the larger bZ4X and is therefore fully electric. Thanks to its relatively large battery and compact size, it achieves over 600 km of WLTP range, a record for a Toyota EV.
The C-HR+ is part of Toyota’s plan to expand its battery-electric offering across multiple segments. The bZ4X and larger bZ4X Touring already serve the D-segment, while the Urban Cruiser looks to attract B-segment customers.
In North America, the Highlander EV aims to seduce large families. This latest offering aims at the C-SUV segment, one of the most popular in Europe, especially for electric vehicles.
Shorter bZ4X
Technically, the Toyota C-HR+ is based on the same e-TNGA platform as the bZ4X. And like its bigger brother, it also has a Subaru twin: the Uncharted. At 4,520 mm, it is on the larger side of the C-SUV segment, balancing practicality with a manageable size.

Up to 607 km WLTP
Under the hood, Toyota offers three drivelines. The base model is FWD with a 57.7 kWh battery and a 167 hp motor, offering up to 458 km of WLTP range. The second trim bumps power to 224 hp and battery capacity to 77 kWh. This gives the C-HR+ a WLTP range of up to 607 km, the most of any Toyota battery-electric vehicle.
AWD with more power but less range
Finally, the C-HR+ AWD gets the same large battery, but with two electric motors and 343 hp. This is also the quickest variant, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. It also has the largest towing capacity of 1,500 kg (750 kg for the FWD 77 kWh version) and the fastest on-board AC charger (22 vs. 11 kW). But it loses around 100 km of WLTP range compared to the FWD due to the extra weight and larger wheels.

Only a bit cheaper than its bigger brother
In Belgium, Toyota has chosen to couple the drivetrain variants to the trim levels. The base model C-HR+ is available from €42,500, making it just €2,300 cheaper than the larger bZ4X. The Toyota C-HR+ Business gets the larger battery and costs €47,640, while the C-HR+ Style is always AWD and costs €54,790.
