More than 2,500 battery analyses performed by D’Ieteren Automotive’s second-hand car divisions, My Way and Audi Approved, prove that modern EV batteries retain their battery capacity remarkably well. The average State of Health (SoH) was 95.9% for the entire EV car population measured.
The analyses were executed in collaboration with MOBA, an expert in battery diagnostics, to give buyers an objective resume of the capacity still available in these cars.
Those analyses also show that the largest capacity loss occurs during the first years of the battery’s lifespan. The survey has shown that even cars with more than 100,000 km retain, on average, more than 90% of their battery capacity.
MOBA’s diagnostic tool measures the battery’s SoH and provides a complete battery certificate on its condition. The aim is to give the potential buyer as much accurate information as possible.
Pioneering role
The two second-hand car divisions of D’Ieteren Automotive are among the first players on the Belgian second-hand car market that clearly visualize the SoH of the cars for their clients. As of February 2027, this will be an obligation as part of the Car-Pass system for second-hand vehicles.
D’Ieteren Automotive has already been rolling out this information since the beginning of the year through sales advertisements for the cars, and it can be integrated into the digital Car-Pass. Visitors to the two second-hand sites (myway.be and audiapprovedplus.be) can actually do a targeted search for vehicles with a certificate.
The online showroom on My Way lists about 6,000 second-hand cars. 1,544 of them are fully electric or hybrid, showing that one out of four cars on offer is already electrified. A constant influx of recent demo cars and company vehicles will procure an increasingly broad and diverse offer on these sites, claims D’Ieteren Automotive.

Confirmation
Other surveys have shown the same results. At the beginning of the rollout of electric cars, there were serious fears about battery life over the years. These fears have generally been proven unnecessary. In most of the surveys, the battery health is turning around 90% or higher.
