The 14-brand-strong group, Stellantis, is launching a new ecosystem for electric vehicle charging under the umbrella of Free2Move Charge. The new entity will allow clients to install and finance home chargers, with options ranging from AC charging to Vehicle-2-grid (V2G) systems. Furthermore, it’ll give access to almost all of Europe’s charging points.
The Stellantis group is pushing toward an electrified future. After continuously launching an array of electric battery vehicles and plug-hybrid powertrains, the 14-brand-strong group is creating a new ecosystem for charging under the umbrella of Free2Move Charge.
Home chargers with V2G
Stellantis describes Free2Move Charge as “a 360-degree ecosystem that will seamlessly deliver charging and energy management to address all electric-vehicle (EV) customer needs, anywhere and in any way”. In other words, the group’s new entity will be in charge of everything connected to charging electric vehicles. It’s a new cog in the wheel of Stellantis to reach its 2030 goal of a 100% passenger-car electric vehicle mix in Europe.
Three pillars
Free2Move Charge will work on three pillars. ‘Free2Move Charge Home’ will deal with everything that is home-charging-related. It’ll sell, install, and finance home chargers, from simple AC units to Vehicle-2-Home/Vehicle-2-Grid solutions. ‘Free2Move Charge Business’ will do the same for companies, running cost estimations, right-sizing of charging infrastructure, maintenance, and much more.
‘Free2Move Charge Go’ might be the most interesting part of the new Stellantis ecosystem, as it’ll offer clients access to numerous public charging points through partners in North America and Europe.
Services include payments and 24-7 support. Free2Move Charge is now launching in North America. In Europe, those services will be offered in eleven countries by the end of the year.
