Smaller Mercedes eActros 400 gets the long-range 600’s tech

The mid-size Mercedes eActros 400 has been updated with technology from the larger eActros 600 long-range heavy e-truck. It gets an integrated e-axle, new LFP batteries, and the latest cockpit experience. It also replaces the eActros 300 as the entry-level electric truck in the range.

Daimler Truck calls it the second-generation eActros, which not only gets more range and faster charging, but also more configuration options. In total, over 40 different combinations of battery capacity, cab, and chassis can be created, with various wheelbase options available ranging from 3,700 to 6,100 mm.

Two 207 kWh battery packs

Under the hood, the new Mercedes eActros 400 features two 207 kWh LFP battery packs, totaling 414 kWh. The name originates from the total capacity, similar to the eActros 600, which features three of these LFP packs. The total payload is up to 25 tonnes for the eActros 400, three tonnes more than the 600.

This allows for a range of up to 480 km when partially loaded at an ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. According to Daimler Truck, this is a classic use case for distribution trucks. Charging is possible up to 400 kW via the CCS2 port (or ports, as you can spec a second port on the right side), with no Megawatt charging (MCS) option. The charging time from 10 to 80 percent is 46 minutes.

Same power as the eActros 600 and a new cockpit

Along with the new battery packs, the eActros 400 has also received the same eAxle as the eActros 600. That gives it a continuous power output of 400 kW (544 hp), with a peak output of 600 kW (816 hp). A four-speed transmission ensures smooth acceleration and efficiency at all speeds. Drivers can choose between five energy recuperation levels, including one-pedal driving.

The drivers of the new eActros 400 also benefit from a new Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2, featuring a 12-inch instrument display and an enhanced touchscreen. Daimler Truck also promises improved voice control, while the navigation has been improved to increase efficiency and plan charging stops.

The new Mercedes eActros model range is available for order from October 2025, with the first deliveries scheduled to take place before the end of the year.
