Mercedes-Benz has so far offered the electric GLC exclusively as a 360 kW all-wheel-drive model with a 94 kWh battery. However, media reports suggest the German carmaker will open order books for two additional powertrain variants later this month, both paired with a smaller battery.
The GLC with EQ technology made its world debut at the IAA in Munich in September 2025. It is the first model based on the new MB.EA-M platform. Since its market launch, the battery-electric SUV has only been available as the GLC 400 4Matic, featuring a 360 kW all-wheel-drive system and a 94 kWh battery. The list price is €71,281 in Germany and €75,504 in Belgium, for example.
Shortly after order books opened, reports suggested Mercedes-Benz could expand the line-up with additional variants, including an entry-level GLC 200 EQ with rear-wheel drive and a smaller battery. However, the carmaker initially refrained from adding further powertrain options.
Two new variants to come soon
That is now set to change. According to JESMB and MBpassion, Mercedes-Benz will open orders for two additional variants on 9 June, with first deliveries scheduled before the end of the year.
Mercedes-Benz is initially set to introduce the GLC 250 EQ and the GLC 300 4Matic EQ. The GLC 250 EQ is expected to feature rear-wheel drive and a 260 kW powertrain. The GLC 300 4Matic EQ will retain all-wheel drive but deliver 310 kW, positioning it below the current GLC 400 4Matic flagship.
Both new GLC variants will use a smaller battery with 85 kWh of usable energy capacity. Mercedes-Benz already uses this battery in other electric models based on its new 800-volt architecture. The battery supports peak DC charging of up to 320 kW, enabling a charge from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes. AC charging power is capped at 11 kW, with a full charge taking around nine hours.
Two additional variants in the pipeline
Mercedes-Benz is also reportedly preparing two additional GLC variants for launch later this year. One of them is expected to be the GLC 300+ EQ, which will combine the 94 kWh battery from the GLC 400 4Matic with a 270 kW rear-wheel-drive powertrain. Thiw will normally be the electric GLC with the longest range.
As its entry-level model, for the GLC range, Mercedes-Benz is said to be planning a variant with a 230 kW rear-wheel-drive system. Apparently, this model will use the smallest battery in the range, offering 64 kWh of usable energy capacity, and reducing the price accordingly to make it the most affordable GLC.
