In the U.S., Ford has opened order books for the 2027 Mustang Mach-E and introduced a new Trail version designed for light off-road driving. The larger extended-range battery is now included as standard.
Previously, Ford offered an 88 kWh battery as an optional upgrade for the 2026 Mustang Mach-E. For 2027, it now comes as standard in the Select and Premium variants of the Mustang Mach-E, while the performance-focused GT and Rally retain a slightly larger 91 kWh pack.
The range previously offered with the smaller 73 kWh battery has been discontinued. Ford estimates that rear-wheel-drive versions equipped with the 88 kWh battery can travel up to 320 miles (515 km) on a single charge under the fairly stringent EPA test cycle, although official range figures for 2027 models are yet to be confirmed.
Trail version
One notable new addition to this year’s U.S. Mach-E lineup is the ‘Trail’ variant, based on the Select all-wheel-drive version and costing $2,295 more. It features a revised suspension with a 10 mm increase in ride height at the front and 15mm at the rear.
It also includes a revised steering rack, 19-inch wheels, and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires from the Mach-E Rally. A 400 W onboard power system with outlets in the cabin and boot is also foreseen, allowing users to power smaller electrical devices.
In a statement, Ford said of the Mach-E Trail: “We created Mustang Mach-E Trail in response to customers who wanted an electric vehicle that could support an active lifestyle and provide added confidence on the gravel and dirt roads leading to their favorite places.”
“Mustang Mach-E Trail combines the everyday electric performance and usability customers have come to expect and love from Mustang Mach-E with purpose-designed hardware for the road to the trailhead, campsite, or water,” the company added.

Serious price difference
Customer deliveries of the 2027 Mach-E range in the U.S. are expected to begin in Q1 of 2027. The whole range will also receive standard connectivity and security packages, while Ford’s BlueCruise ‘hands-free’ driving system remains standard on the GT and Rally and optional on selected lower trims.
As for pricing, the entry-level ‘Select’ RWD model starts at $39,995, with the eAWD version costing slightly more at $42,995. The Premium RWD starts at $42,995; the eAWD at $45,995. At the higher end, the Mach-E GT starts at $50,995 and the Rally at $55,290; both feature eAWD and the larger 91 kWh battery.
Normally, this revised range will also be offered in Europe. Prices aren’t known yet. One thing that’s definitely noticeable is the price difference. Whereas the 2027 Premium RWD version starts at $42,995 (€38,400) in the U.S., the corresponding 2026 Model Year version in the EU is priced at around €67,500. Of course, tax differences and import tariffs apply, but a 75% price difference is still a hefty hike to cross the Atlantic. No wonder that the Mustang Mach-E is relatively rare on European roads.
