Like several of its Stellantis counterparts, Jeep is also working on an affordable battery-electric model to target younger people and private customers in North America and Europe. This new model will be the next-generation Renegade, expected by 2027, with a sub-$25,000 price tag for the electric version.

Like Fiat and Citroën, which recently unveiled their Grande Panda and ë-C3 models, respectively, Jeep is also cracking the code for a cheap(er) EV. During a June 13 investor day event, new Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa and Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares unveiled the brand’s North American product plan, which looks forward to 2027.

STLA Small

The biggest news from this product plan is the all-new Renegade, which will be built on the upcoming STLA Small platform (a successor to the current e-CMP platform originally created by PSA). When the STLA platform family was announced, Stellantis promised a 500-km (300+ miles) range.

This new Renegade replaces the outgoing model, launched in 2014 and becoming very popular in North America and Europe. It features regular combustion engines and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with four-wheel drive to conserve the typical Jeep terrain-driving capabilities.

Even with the STLA Small platform, a combustion-powered drivetrain still seems to be on the cards, with the Jeep slides mentioning the “BEV variant” of the new Renegade, which gets the sub-$25,000 price tag.

Five all-new models by 2027

The Jeep model range will almost all be renewed by 2027. The Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer will all get a facelift, while the new Wagoneer S and Recon models will launch shortly.

Next to the new Renegade, the Compass will also get an all-new generation, while another ‘mainstream UV’ will launch in the D segment. Jeep hopes to get an 85% market coverage in North America to boost its sales.
