All-electric motor show on Bruges’ ‘t Zand Square
A sign of motor shows going to the public instead of vice-versa? Ten car dealers are setting up jointly what they call “the greenest showroom of Bruges” on the city’s ‘t Zand Square. It’s a free, public three-day event around all-electric and plug-in hybrid models on sale today called ‘RijBatterij‘, which translates somewhat as battery-driven.
On 23-24-25 October 2021, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the public can get acquainted with some fifteen 100% battery-electric and PHEV models on the market, on display on the city’s central Square in mobile showrooms. The main intention is not to sell but to inform the public and answer practical questions about electric driving, says spokesman Pieter Derudder.
The driving force behind the initiative is the NGO ‘Brugge Geeft Energie‘ (Bruges Gives Energy), an organization of regional entrepreneurs with experience in the ‘green sector’ sharing a common goal to make Bruges’ industrial zones CO2-neutral. Among them are some of the participating car dealers.
Participating Bruges car dealers are Garage Scheerens (Peugeot), multi-brand dealer DR Motors (Porsche-Land Rover), Garage Dereeper (Kia), Cocquyt (BMW-MINI), Valckenier (Renault-Dacia), Automobilia (Volvo), Raes Autogroep (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Cupra), Demeyere Cars (Nissan, Renault, Dacia), Devisch (Hyundai) and Groep Vereenooghe (Mercedes-Benz). The event itself is managed by Bruges event-agency Eventique.
