Silence, a manufacturer of microcars and scooters, has opened its first ‘Urban Store’ in Belgium. The exact location is ‘Gare Maritime’ in Brussels, one of the city’s increasingly popular and biggest shopping hubs.
As a manufacturer of electric vehicles, Silence is a daughter of Acciona, worldwide active in offering regenerative solutions for a CO2-neutral economy. This comprises renewable energy solutions, water treatment and management, eco-efficient transport systems, resilient infrastructures, etc. Acciona claims to be carbon-neutral since 2016 and realized a turnover of €11,2 billion in 2022 with activities in more than 60 countries.
Daughter Silence develops electric vehicles with swappable batteries, two-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Soon it will launch the S04, a small two-seater city four-wheeler. 2022 was the fourth year Silence led the European market of electric two-wheelers, with a market share of 18%. It is present in 26 European countries.
Swappable battery
In the new store in Gare Maritime, part of the Brussels Turn & Taxis facilities, Silence will offer its entire portfolio for sale. The S01 is the best-seller, an electric two-wheeler, and the market leader in its European segment. Two derivatives are also available: the S01+ as a premium version of the S01, and the S02 as a less expensive product with a more restrained design.
In the coming months, they will be joined by the S04, the first electric ‘nano car’ produced by Silence. All Silence vehicles share the same swappable battery that can be transported like a trolley. So one can charge the battery inside the vehicle or at home with a conventional 230 V socket.
Silence is distributed via Astara, one of Europe’s largest distributors. Astara Western Europe, also importing car brands like Hyundai, Maxus, MG, and Suzuki in Belgium (among other countries), will be responsible for the market distribution in Belgium and Luxembourg.
