Avatr, the collaboration between Changan, CATL, and Huawei, has released its second model: the four-door coupé Avatr 12, following the SUV Avatr 11. It features a 700-km range, lots of high-end equipment, and up to 578 hp, with deliveries starting in December.
2022 saw the launch of Avatr with the Avatr 11, a large premium SUV with a sleek design and a potent four-wheel-drive powertrain with 578 hp thanks to two Huawei-made electric motors. The CATL-supplied batteries offer 555 to 680 km of range. Most of the technical side has been retained for the second model.

No rear window
The Avatr 12 is a 5,02 m sedan with coupé-like features and a large rear hatch but no rbackwindow. Polestar has set a trend with the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5 models. Rear visibility comes from the rear-facing camera, with cameras instead of side mirrors also available as an option.
The inside is dominated by a 15,6-inch touchscreen powered by Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4. Premium features include a 27-speaker sound system, 64-color ambient lighting, a double wireless charging pad for smartphones, Nappa leather seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, and Lidar-based self-driving, thanks to Huawei.

RWD or 4WD deliveries already in December
For the powertrain, two options are available: a RWD variant with 313 hp, which takes 6,7 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/hour, and a 4WD version with 578 hp and a 0-100km/hour sprint in 3,9 seconds. Both variants feature the same CATL NMC 94,5 kWh battery pack, with 700 km or 650 km of CLTC range, respectively.

As ever with Chinese models for the local market, the Avatr 12 launches quite soon: the car was only revealed in mid-November 2023, but scale deliveries are already expected by December. Pricing starts at 308 000 RMB (39 400 euros), with the most expensive option (GT 4WD) starting at 400 800 RMB (51 250 euros).
