Hyvia, the joint venture between Renault and Plug for hydrogen technology, has unveiled the new H2-Tech hydrogen fuel cell architecture for the current Renault Master van. A next-gen platform for the new Renault Master is coming in 2025.
While we saw the launch of the all-new Renault Master, with a new battery-electric powertrain offering up to 410 km of range, Hyvia is plugging away at developing its hydrogen fuel cell for the current-gen Master. At Solutrans, the company showed three new body variants (L2H2, L3H2, and L3H3) of the Master Van H2-Tech.

More payload, less compromise
This new H2-Tech architecture will be available from Q2 2024 and offers 320 km of range, a 5-minute refueling time, and an increased payload of up to 1 389 kg. The Renault Master Van H2-Tech uses a Dual Power architecture, combining a 30 kW fuel cell with a 33 kWh battery pack to power a 57 kW (78 hp) motor. The hydrogen tanks are under the floor, with the only practical compromise being an electrical storage box of 0,4 m³ in the loading area.
Next-gen Master H2-Tech coming in 2025
As for the New Renault Master, which will also get a hydrogen version mentioned briefly in the launch presentation, a next-gen hydrogen powertrain is expected in 2025. It will benefit from a next-gen fuel cell system and components sourced in Europe, with the production based entirely in France.
