Specialized, Gazelle, and Riese & Müller are ‘VAB Bike of the Year 2024’

Three bicycle models – the ‘Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0’, ‘Gazelle Eclipse C380 HBM’, and ‘Riese & Müller Charger4 GT Rohloff HS’ – are the winners of mobility organization VAB’s ‘Bike of the Year 2024’ election – the tenth edition.

Ordinary consumers and a professional jury consisting of bicycle journalists and people from the bicycle leasing sector could vote. The assessment is based on various criteria, such as steering behavior and agility, ergonomics, safety, pedal assistance, and price-quality ratio.

Economy category

The ‘Specialized Turbo Vado 3.0’ (€2,900) wins in the E-bikes Economy category. This bicycle scored very well across the board with both the professional and private jury, with the smooth and silent engine, coupled with the extremely smooth driving characteristics, being the most striking.

The ‘Gazelle Eclipse C380 HBM’ (€5,999) won in the E-bikes Premium category. The Gazelle was the absolute crowd favorite among private testers and achieved high scores in almost every area.

Speed pedelec of the year

And the ‘Riese & Müller Charger4 GT Rohloff HS’ (€9,180) won in the speed pedelec category, with support up to 45 kilometers per hour. The latter convinced the professional jury with its powerful engine and long driving range. The private testers absolutely loved the efficient gearbox and good ergonomics.

For the second year, ‘Fleet Brand of the Year’ title went to Riese & Müller. This title is chosen by professionals from the fleet sector (leasing, fleet owners, rental companies), taking into account criteria such as the number of physical sales and repair points, the delivery time of new bicycles, the available stock, and delivery time of spare parts, available warranty and the application of the conditions, offering services for company fleets.

Mobility organization

Mobility organization VAB organizes this bicycle election to help people choose a new electric bicycle or speed pedelec. VAB offers its members various services and products to optimally protect their mobility. The organization was more of an organization for motorists, but the booming bicycle business meant that VAB had to shift its scope.
