Nissan introduces electric long-wheelbase Townstar Evalia

The Nissan Townstar is the first of the Kangoo-Citan-Townstar trio to get a long-wheelbase version with up to 7 seats. The Townstar Evalia is available with either a gasoline engine or a fully electric drivetrain, which remains the same as in the short-wheelbase variant.

Both the Renault Kangoo and the Mercedes Citan/T-Class/EQT announced a long time ago that a more extended, 7-seat version is coming. Still, Nissan is the first to release the extended Townstar Evalia, although not every technical detail has yet been revealed.

Nearly 40 cm longer

The Townstar Evalia’s wheelbase has been stretched from 2,716 mm to 3,100 mm, adding a sizable 384 mm in length. This creates space for an extra row of seats, accessible via widened sliding doors. All five rear seats are also removable, freeing up to 3,750 liters of cargo space.

265 km WLTP range

Regarding powertrains, customers can choose between a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, delivering 130 hp, or a 122 hp electric drivetrain. The battery remains the same as in the shorter Townstar EV, with just 45 kWh on offer, which provides a WLTP range of 265 km. Fast charging is available up to 80 kW, which takes 37 minutes from 15 to 80 percent.

The Nissan Townstar Evalia also has a full suite of safety systems, including an Intelligent Around View Monitor, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Emergency Braking. No launch date is mentioned yet, but we suspect the 7-seat versions of the Renault Kangoo and Mercedes Citan/T-Class will follow soon.
