Fastned opens fast charging stations in Maasmechelen and Hoeselt

The Dutch Fastned recently inaugurated a seventh fast-charging station for electric cars on the Ringlaan in Maasmechelen (Limburg, Belgium).

Fastned’s latest fast charging station has eight charging places with a maximum capacity of 400 kW. In the long term, six additional charging stations can be added.

The first station in Maasmechelen, with four charging stations, was constructed a few years ago at the E314’s carpool parking.

Hoeselt

The charging stations work via the Fastned mobile app. However, drivers with a charging or fuel card from other providers can also charge there. Users can also pay with a bank or credit card.

In autumn, an eighth station will be added to the highway parking lot in Hoeselt. Construction can be scheduled there by the end of August.

In Hoeselt, Fastned plans four charging islands with a maximum charging capacity of 400 KWh for eight cars simultaneously.

Highest available charging speed

A charging power of 400 kW is good for one of the highest available charging speeds on the market. With 400 kW chargers, charging up to a range of 300 kilometers takes just ten minutes, provided the car supports such a speed.

Tuur De Coninck, Country Director Belgium at Fastned: “In Maasmechelen, we see further growth potential for our fast charging stations. By anticipating additional charging options along the E314 and the Rijksweg (N78), we prevent charging traffic jams and, as always, guarantee the best charging experience.”

1,000 stations by 2030

Fastned currently has several hundred fast charging stations at highway car parks or near entrances and exits in the Benelux, Denmark, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

The Dutch company is the market leader in Belgium and wants to have a thousand charging stations in Europe by 2030.
