Maxus to show electric eTerron9 pickup and eDeliver5 at IAA Transportation

Maxus Motors, part of the Chinese conglomerate SAIC, is bringing two new models in its commercial vehicle range to the IAA Transportation in Hannover later this month: the eTerron9, an electric ‘performance’ pickup, and the eDeliver5, a relatively compact electric van. Both models should join the Maxus model range by the end of the year.

Maxus started its European career with primarily electric commercial vehicles, such as the eDeliver3 and eDeliver9, but has recently expanded its model range to include the T90 electric pickup, two minivans (MIFA 9 and MIFA 7), and the eUNIQ6, an electric SUV which benefits from the Flemish EV subsidy.

‘Performance pickup truck’

Now, even more options are coming. Maxus has announced it’s bringing two new models to IAA Transportation: the eTerron9 pickup truck and the eDeliver5 van. The eTerron9 is all-new and should slot above the T90, with a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain.

Maxus even calls it a ‘performance pickup’, promising passengers luxury and comfort. Not much is known about its technical details, however. A concept version of the pickup, pictured above, was first shown at the Shanghai Auto Show.

The eDeliver5, on the other hand, has already been revealed. It is positioned below the one-ton eDeliver7, which competes with the Ford E-Transit Custom. It features a cute design that differs from the rest of the range.

Multiple body lengths will be available, with the standard eDeliver5 measuring 4.80 meters long, 1.87 m wide, and 196 m high. A high-roof version is also on the menu, with a total height of 2.18 m. The cargo space varies from 6.6 to 7.6 m³, with a maximum payload of 1,200 kg.

Under the hood, the Maxus eDeliver5 features a 120 kW (163 hp) electric motor with up to 240 Nm of torque. It is fed by a 64 kWh battery, promising a WLTP range of 335 km. Other features include a wide range of safety systems, earning the eDeliver5 a Platinum label in the Euro NCAP crash tests, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

More info in two weeks’ time

Both models will be shown at the IAA Transportation in Hannover, which opens its doors from 17-22 September. The press can take a look from 16 September. The eDeliver5 is expected to arrive in Europe before the end of 2024, and the eTerron9 will likely follow soon after.
