Electric MINIs get John Cooper Works boost

MINI uses the setting of the Paris Motor Show to boost the MINI Cooper Electric and MINI Aceman models with up to 190 kW (258 hp) John Cooper Works variants. With the same  54.2 kWh battery, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric gets a range of up to 371 kilometers (WLTP), and the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman gets 355 kilometers.

Both models have a 200 km/hour top speed and 350 Nm of torque. Suppose the driver isn’t satisfied with the EV’s already instant response. In that case, he can activate a ‘go-kart mode’ by pressing the boost paddle on the sport steering wheel, which provides an additional 20 kW of electric power for overtaking maneuvers.

Sixty years of JCW racing tradition

The MINI 3 door sprints from 0 to 100 km/hour in 5.9 seconds, while the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman reaches 100 km/hour from a standing start in 6.4 seconds. Charging can be done via 11 kW AC and up to 95 kW DC, where 10 to 80 percent charging is possible in under 30 minutes.

MINI’s ‘JCW’ tradition returns to sports car designer John Cooper, who developed a highly sporty version of the classic Mini in the 1960s. This version quickly succeeded on racetracks and rally courses like the Monte Carlo Rally and at the Nürburgring 24-hour race.

Today, this racing history is memorized by the red, white, and black John Cooper Works logo on the grille, reminiscent of the chequered flag in motorsport, and by the illuminated logo projected from the exterior mirrors to welcome the driver when approaching the car.

Black side skirts, aero blades at the level of the C-pillar, the accentuated rear spoiler to optimize the aerodynamics, red vertical reflectors and diffusers, and a braking system in Chili Red with a white JCW logo add more sportive accents. A contrasting roof in Chili Red or a John Cooper Works-specific multi-tone roof with a red and black gradient are also options.

Remote parking

Inside, a black and red pattern decorates the knitted surface of the dashboard. The driver and front passenger seats are upholstered in black synthetic leather with multicolored knitted fabric at the shoulders and red accent stitching. Ambient interior lighting illuminates the headlining, an exclusive feature of the JCW model.

Like all MINIs, the high-resolution 24-cm circular OLED display is the heart of the cabin, providing relevant vehicle data and settings for air conditioning, media, phone, and navigation.

These MINIs equipped with 12 ultrasonic sensors and four Surround-View cameras come with a complete set of ADAS, including a remote parking feature that allows you to squeeze your MINI into tiny parking spaces remotely from your smartphone.
