Porsche reveals interior and specs of future electric Macan

German sportscar manufacturer Porsche has revealed the first image of the new Macan EV’s interior. The newcomer takes a page from the recently updated Cayenne and Panamera, with three screens and a dash-mounted gear selector.

Porsche also takes the opportunity to delve further into the technical specifications. The new Macan EV sits on the PPE platform, with up to 450 kW (612 hp), 1 000 Nm of torque, and a 100-kWh battery.

Three is the number

Porsche has been teasing the arrival of its new Macan for what seems like an eternity. We already had a taste of its technological prowess and performances. After delays, the future electric SUV should reach the showroom floors by 2024. Today, Porsche lifts the veil on its interior.

For what seems like a ground-breaking vehicle for Porsche, the new electric Macan features a remarkably conventional interior. It’s very similar to what we’ve seen in the recently updated Cayenne and Panamera.

Three screens dominate the dashboard, with one 12,6-inch curved screen for the driver, and two 10,9-inch screens for the infotainment, which runs on Android Automotive OS and passenger (optional extra). There’s also an augmented-reality head-up display and a 56-color interior ambiance lighting.

Fast-charging & bank charging

All new electric Macans will feature an integrated lithium-ion battery comprising 12 modules and 180 prismatic cells. Porsche says the total brut capacity is “around 100 kWh”. That doesn’t say much, but we know that the nickel, cobalt, and manganese proportion is 8:1:1.

Thanks to the new PPE architecture, co-developed with Audi, the Macan EV can fast-charge at up to 270 kW. That should top up the battery from 10 to 80 % in “less than 22 min”, according to Porsche. Another interesting feature is the Bank Charging, where the car splits the battery into two halves to charge at 150 kW in parallel on charge points limited to 400 volts. AC charging will be at 11 kW standard.

450 kW and more than 1 000 Nm

In addition to the interior, Porsche further reveals technical details. We already know that the two electric motors should produce 450 kW (612 hp) and more than 1 000 Nm of torque, but Porsche adds that there will be a less powerful, rear-wheel-drive variant of unknown power.

The Macan EV will pack rear-wheel steering with five degrees of angle, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and active suspension management (PASM) as standard on models equipped with air suspension.

Finally, the new electric Porsche Macan will be produced at the brand’s Leipzig factory, and first deliveries should start next year.
