Zeekr 7X officially launched with up to 780 km range

Zeekr, one of Geely’s Chinese subsidiaries, has launched its flagship electric SUV. The Zeekr 7X inherits the 007 sedan’s and the Smart #5’s optimized PMA2+ platform, which gives it an extremely high range of 780 km and ultra-quick charging times. It has already launched in China, with international markets following soon.

The Zeekr 7X is a large family SUV with a length of 4,825 mm, a width of 1,930 mm, and a height of 1,656 mm on a 2,925 mm wheelbase. That makes it the largest SUV in the Zeekr model range, although the 009 minivan is larger still. Inside, the five-seater SUV boasts plenty of space and a 616-liter trunk. There are even built-in displays for the rear passengers on the top trims.

Long-range, super-fast charging

But the interesting part is under the hood. Built on the PMA2+ platform (Pure electric Modular Architecture), also known as the SEA3 platform, the Zeekr 7X shares its underpinnings with the Zeekr 007 sedan, the recently announced Smart #5, and the Geely Galaxy E8.

This updated version of Geely’s SEA architecture features an 800 V battery system. Two choices are available: a 75 kWh LFP battery pack or a 100 kWh NMC battery pack, with CLTC ranges of 605 km and 780 km, respectively. More importantly, the LFP batteries can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 10.5 minutes. The 100 kWh pack isn’t slow, either, with a 10-80% charging time of 15 minutes.

Other cutting-edge tech in the Zeekr 7X includes silicon carbide electric motors, which provide up to 475 kW (646 hp) in the dual-motor version. This allows the large SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in just 3.8 seconds. Dual NVidia Orin-X processors, LiDAR, HD cameras, and mmWave radars give the 7X advanced assisted driving functions with “multiple redundancies.”

Coming soon to Europe

Deliveries of the Zeekr 7X are set to begin in China by the end of September, with a starting price of 239,000 yuan (€30,400), making it competitive with the Tesla Model Y.

Within a year from now, Zeekr wants to launch the model in “global EV markets.” The brand has a European presence in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. Other markets, like Belgium, are likely to follow.
