Cadillac Lyriq-V is the brand’s first sporty EV

Cadillac has announced its first electric vehicle to “earn” the V-Series badge: the 2026 Lyriq-V. Not much is known about the model, which is set to launch early next year, but thanks to its platform-mate, the Chevrolet Blazer EV SS, we can make some estimations as to what kind of power it will deliver.

Cadillac’s first electric vehicle will also become its first electric V-Series model. This badge was launched 20 years ago and was previously used on hardcore V8-powered sedans like the CTS-V and, more recently, the 677-horsepower CT5-V Blackwing. This also gives some indication as to what we might expect in terms of performance.

All-wheel drive and ‘exceptional performance’

Apart from the looks shown in pictures and a short video, Cadillac remains tight-lipped on any specifications for its electric sports SUV. The brand states, “In the EV era, V-Series vehicles will be characterized by their exceptional performance, instantaneous acceleration, competitive range, and standard all-wheel drive.”

But with the Chevrolet Blazer SS, which is built on the same GM BEV3 platform and achieves a peak power of 603 horsepower and 875 Newton meters of torque, it is likely that the Cadillac Lyriq-V will exceed this power figure, as it is the more premium brand within General Motors’ portfolio. Currently, the most powerful Lyriq AWD makes around 500 horsepower.

Coming early 2025

Other features of the Cadillac Lyriq-V include a slightly more aggressive look, finished off with the V-Series badging, and a lower ride height thanks to a sports suspension that aids cornering.

It will launch early next year in left-hand drive and right-hand drive markets, starting in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Other markets will be announced “at a later date.”

Earlier this year, the Lyriq launched in Europe, with Switzerland and Sweden being the first markets to welcome Cadillac back to the Old Continent. The brand plans to increase its European presence further with the more compact Optiq, an electric SUV in the same ballpark as the Tesla Model Y and Audi Q6 e-tron.
