ALD Automotive invests in Belgian MaaS start-up Skipr
Specialized in managing alternative mobility solutions for professionals, the Belgium start-up welcomes the arrival of one of the worldwide leaders in leasing and company car management.
The initial focus will be on developing the Belgian and French markets, followed by further expansion and a foot in all major European cities by 2025.
“Our vision at Skipr is to make sustainable mobility the default option for professionals,” explains Mathieu de Lophem, CEO of Skipr, in a joint press release.
“ALD’s Move 2025 strategy, combined with the new fiscal levers, made this partnership a natural move for us. Combining our technology with ALD’s ambitions and network positions us ideally to have the European impact we ambition,” he adds.
ALD enters the capital of Skipr with the acquisition of a 17% stake, of which the amount is kept confidential. Created back in 2018 as part of D’Ieteren’s Lab Box mobility start-up incubator, the young MaaS company (Mobility as a Service) has already benefited from a 7 million euro investment from Belgian bank Belfius. With this new breath of fresh air from ALD, the CEO believes that the point of profitability should be reached by 2024.
That being said, the arrival of ALD Automotive in the capital of Skipr isn’t only a way to keep the company afloat. Being one of the worldwide leaders in leasing and company car management, ALD will bring a colossal market to the young start-up’s MaaS offer.
The focus will be put on the continuous development of the already growing Belgian and French markets in the short term. Further away, starting from 2023, Skipr aims at reaching other European markets to finally become the leading B2B MaaS app in Europe by 2025A and having a foot in every major city.
MaaS is future
“At ALD, we believe that mobility can be delivered more smartly through technology, partnerships, and industry expertise,” declares Tim Albertsen, CEO of ALD, in the press release.
“By investing in MaaS solutions to create a market-leading one-stop-shop offering for companies and employees, we are shaping the future of mobility,” he assures.
