Electric cruising with Harley’s new LiveWire S2 Mulholland

Electric motorcycle maker LiveWire has unveiled its new S2 Mulholland. Like its mother brand, Harley Davidson, the new electric motorcycle is aimed at cruising on long and straight American roads.

The new LiveWire S2 Mulholland follows the S2 Del Mar and is built around the same platform. It uses the same 84-hp electric motor and 9.5 kWh battery pack; however, the range is a bit higher at 138 km combined.

Americana-electric

LiveWire is growing. Now an independent brand from Harley Davidson, it launched its second electric motorcycle model last year, the S2 Del Mar. With its new S2 Mulholland, LiveWire creates a racy cruiser that seems to hark back to the Haleys of old.

The S2 Mulholland features a short seat, raiser handlebar, and two different-sized wheels – 17-inch at the rear and 19-inch at the front, giving it a distinctive ‘American cruiser’ vibe. In contrast, the equipment is up to date with full LED headlights, a TFT screen, and even a USB-C port.

195 km in the city

While looks may differ, the S2 Mulholland uses the same platform and technology as the S2 Del Mar. Under the cruiser skin, the same 84-hp/263-Nm electric motor and 10,5-kWh battery sit.

The weight is lower at 195 kg (3 kg less). Range follows a different path, with an average combined range of 138 km. In the city, it could go as high as 195 km, while it lowers to 117 km on higher-speed highways.

Charging is also similar. It’ll take up to 9 or 5.9 hours on a domestic plug to go from 20 to 80 %. Using a Leve2 charger, charging times are significantly lowered, taking 1.3 hours to charge from 20 to 80%.

Prices for France – currently unavailable in Belgium – aren’t yet known. However, on the North American market, the new LiveWire S2 Mulholland is marketed at $15,999, which is only $500 more than the S2 Del Mar. The future will tell us if that situation will be similar in Europe.
