Porsche unveils top-range Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid with 800 hp

Porsche has launched the most powerful Panamera of all time with the new Turbo S E-Hybrid. Its combination of a turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor gives it nearly 800 hp, enough to set a new Nürburgring lap record for its class. But all of this power comes at a price.

Promise made, promise kept: when launching the third-generation Panamera late last year, Porsche promised the luxury sports sedan would get four plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants. After the 4 E-Hybrid, 4S E-Hybrid, and Turbo E-Hybrid, the final level has been shown: meet the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, the most powerful Panamera… ever.

0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds

Thanks to a turbocharged 4-liter V8 engine, which delivers up to 600 hp on its own, and a 140 kW (190 hp) electric motor built into the PDK transmission, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid achieves an astonishing peak power level of 782 hp. Even with a weight of around 2.4 tons, that’s enough to send it from 0 to 100 km/hour in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 325 km/hour.

That’s an increase of 102 hp compared to the previous-generation Turbo S E-Hybrid, which also translates into faster lap times, should you wish to take your executive sedan to the Nürburgring.

There, the new range-topper managed a 7:42.172-minute lap time, which is 5.64 seconds faster than the old model, and a new record in the “hybrid luxury sedan” class, where it faces the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance.

Fancy equipment, fancy price tag

Other changes to the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid include a Carbon Aerokit, which provides up to 60 kg of downforce at 200 km/hour, new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N0 tires, and an Active Ride suspension, which runs on the 400 V high-voltage system, making it exclusive to the hybrid models.

But, as you may have guessed, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid isn’t cheap. Prices start in Belgium at €237,980 without options, while the more extended Executive version is available from €249,720.

Deliveries are expected in the Fall of 2024. A new Panamera GTS model was also announced, with a 500-hp V8-only drivetrain and a starting price of €171,880.
