Exactly one year after its launch, 350,000 digital Brupass, and Brupass XL tickets have already been sold to nearly 125,000 customers for public transport in the 19 Brussels municipalities and the Flemish periphery.
These digital tickets allow travelers to use the public transport network of the Brussels transport company MIVB/STIB, the railroad company MIVB/SNCB, and the Flemish and Walloon transport companies De Lijn and Tec.
Mainly purchased digitally
The digital ticket was launched in November 2023 in a collaboration between the four Belgian public transport companies, each offering it through its own app. Regardless of which operator the ticket is purchased from, the ticket is valid on all networks within the Brussels region and on the outskirts of Brussels.
There are two formulas. The digital Brupass is only valid in the Brussels Capital Region. At the same time, the digital Brupass XL is also valid in the Flemish peripheral municipalities within a radius of 11.5 km from the Grand Place in the city’s heart.
Travelers opt for digital tickets, especially when purchasing the 1-ride passes. However, the 10-ride passes are mostly still loaded onto the physical MOBIB card. Some 67% of Brupass-XL and 40% of Brupass tickets are purchased digitally.
