Brussels Airlines summer 2025: more destinations, flights, and jobs

Starting next summer, Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira, will be added to the network of destinations to which Brussels Airlines flies. At the same time, the airline will also deploy more aircraft in the 2025 summer season, allowing it to increase capacity by 18%, which means higher frequencies to many destinations. This higher capacity will also create more than 350 additional jobs.

Between April and the end of October, Brussels Airlines will deploy 11 long-haul aircraft and 35 short- and medium-haul aircraft. These include both Airbus A330, and Airbus A319/A320 aircraft.

In addition to its own aircraft, Brussels Airlines will lease four Airbus A220 aircraft from Air Baltic. Thus, compared to summer 2024, Brussels Airlines will have six additional aircraft, 50 instead of 44.

Altogether, those planes will fly to 91 destinations, 71 of which are in Europe. The European network focuses on Spain and Portugal. With Funchal, the capital of Madeira, Brussels Airlines adds a fourth destination in Portugal while increasing the number of flights to Faro and Porto.

Focus on Spain and Portugal

In Spain, Brussels Airlines offers 15 destinations. Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands, was a newcomer in the winter season and will now be included in the summer network. The number of flights to Malaga, Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid will also be increased, as well as to Greece’s Samos and Lesbos, and Vilnius and Tangier.

Extra jobs

On the long-haul network, Brussels Airlines is adding an 11th Airbus A330-300. The airline will announce details about the long-haul network later, but it is already clear that the extra capacity will serve flights to Africa—within the Lufthansa group, Brussels Airlines is the Africa specialist.

Because of the expansion, Brussels Airlines is again looking for additional staff. The airline is looking to hire more than 350 new colleagues, including 190 additional cabin crew, 50 pilots, 40 airport staff, 40 technicians, and 20 head office staff.

Brussels Airlines previously announced that as of summer 2025, it also wants to use job students on flights for the first time – there is room for about 60 job students but according to the newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, 680 candidates have already applied. The new jobs will bring Brussels Airlines’ employee count back close to 4,000, the level it was at just before the Covid-19 crisis.
