Jeep Dune: Klissarov’s wink at Citroën’s My Ami Buggy

It looks like a boxy mini-Jeep, fully electric and ready to take on the sandy beach. It could wear a Jeep batch, but it isn’t a Jeep. However, if interest is high, it might as well become one.

It is a design concept by French designer Emmanual Klissarov based on Citroën’s Ami 8 EL6 light quadricycle platform.

Not a real car

So it’s not even a real car, but it might be a must-have for French youngsters from 14 on, as it cannot go faster than 45 km/hour, weighs less than 425 kg, and consequently wouldn’t require a driver’s license. With Citroën and Jeep being part of Stellantis Group, this Jeep Dune wouldn’t look odd as an addition to Jeep’s European line-up.

In December 2021, Citroën showed its own ‘rugged version’ of the Ami 8 for the first time, named My Ami Buggy Concept. It had rough tires and a panoramic roof but no doors. The latter was not considered a handicap but stands for ‘completely liberated’ in today’s marketing communications.

Becoming an instant hit

It became a genuine offer in the Ami line-up in 2022, but the 50 produced vehicles were sold out in… 18 minutes. As a ‘Christmas present,’ Citroën decided to build 1,000 more My Ami Buggies and offer them at €10.450.

Klissarov’s version looks more like a 4×4, a genuine Jeep with mini-doors of perforated fabric. It is equipped with a cooler and even a DJ booth in the back to start a beach party right away.

Working for Renault, Dacia, and Mercedes

Klissarov is a French industrial designer who started his career with an internship at PSA (then Peugeot-Citroën) in 2006 and worked as a designer for Dacia, Renault, and Mercedes.

He worked, among others, on the Renault Scenic iV, Arkana and Captur II, Dacia Duster II, and the Smart #3. Now he has his own ‘Klissarov Design studio’ in France.

His interest goes beyond all-day cars, with creations for Formula One’s 100th anniversary in 2017, such as the R.S.2027 Vision concept and a futuristic limousine tender boat concept for the Monaco Yacht Show 2022. Even an electric, pebble stone-shaped submarine for two is conveniently called ‘Pebble Sub’, controlled by the ‘driver’ with a joystick.
