Brussels Airlines to start flying daily to Kinshasa

From March, Brussels Airlines will start flying direct to Kinshasa daily. Currently, there are five direct flights a week and two flights a week with a stopover in Luanda (Angola).

By broadening its offer to the Congolese capital, Brussels Airlines confirms its reputation as the Lufthansa Group’s Africa specialist.

Non-stop

“The history of aviation in Belgium began almost 100 years ago with the ambition to connect Kinshasa and Brussels by plane. The fact that from now on, we will only do this route non-stop shows our commitment to the Democratic Republic of Congo,” said CEO Dorothea von Boxberg.

Currently, Brussels Airlines flies direct to the N’djili Airport in Kinshasa five times a week, and two flights a week have a stopover in Luanda (Angola). However, Lufthansa is taking over flights to Luanda.

56 flights a week to Africa

From summer 2025, Brussels Airlines will have 56 weekly flights to Africa. Thanks to deploying an 11the long-haul aircraft, capacity towards sub-Saharan Africa will also be increased by 10%.

For example, daily flights will be to Nairobi (Kenya) and Accra (Ghana). The number of flights to Banjul (Gambia), Freetown (Sierra Leone), and Conakry (Guinea) will also be increased. Dakar (Senegal) and Abidjan (Ivory Coast) will, in turn, receive more direct flights instead of combined flights.

Brussels Airlines also continues to operate in North America, with flights to New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C.

Israel remains no-go

Due to tensions in the Middle East, the Lufthansa Group has also decided to extend the cancellation of flights to and from Tel Aviv until the end of January. There will likewise be no Lufthansa Group flights to Tehran through January 31. Flights to Beirut, meanwhile, will remain suspended through the end of February.

Affected passengers can rebook a later travel date free of charge or receive a full refund for their ticket.

And more flight news: Since Sunday, Thai Airways has again offered a daily direct flight from Brussels Airport to Bangkok. The nonstop connection previously existed but was halted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some 200,000 passengers fly to Bangkok from Brussels Airport every year.
