Polestar and Allebike launch second joint electric mountain bike

Polestar’s collaboration with Swedish bicycle brand Allebike has resulted in a second joint e-mountain bike: the limited-edition Allebike Elize Polestar Engineered.

This new bike, priced at €8,900, is designed for challenging off-road adventures, combining the design and performance elements that Polestar is known for. It’s designed to complement the carmaker’s SUV range.

The new e-mountain bike features Polestar’s signature exterior color, Space, with shock absorbers and details accented in the distinctive Swedish Gold, making it a perfect visual match for the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs.

The frame is made from carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, offering a lightweight yet robust structure. This ensures a responsive riding experience on various terrains, from trails to enduro tracks.

Advanced technology

The Allebike Elize Polestar Engineered has the Shimano EP8 mid-drive motor, delivering 85 Nm of torque. A 750 Wh battery powers it, with enough backup energy to tackle even the steepest inclines while overstretching your hamstrings.

The bike also features Shimano’s electronic Auto Shift system, ensuring seamless gear changes. The suspension system is top-notch. Polestar’s preferred supplier, Öhlins, fits the RXF38 m.2 29 air suspension at the front, offering 170 mm of travel, and a TTX2Air shock absorber at the rear with 160 mm of travel. These components are specifically tuned to ensure an “exciting and comfortable ride,” according to the press release.

The price of €8,900 positions this mountain bike in the top segment of electric bikes. This exclusive product is delivered through Allebike and can be ordered on the car brand’s website.

As Polestar is moving away from its digital-only model, it doesn’t seem unlikely that the mountain bike will also appear in the showrooms of the activated dealers, which are now entitled to address customers on their own initiative.

Polestar aims to cater to customers who appreciate their electric cars and high-quality, eco-friendly transportation solutions for off-road experiences.

Toward a complete mobility provider

Polestar is far from the only car manufacturer venturing into soft mobility. The brand’s most keenly eyed rival, Porsche, took over e-bike manufacturers Greyp and FAZUA.

In contrast, the brand has established an eBike Performance division in Münich to develop and manufacture e-motors, battery packs, and software solutions. Most automakers follow Polestar’s path and partner with specialized companies to provide a broader range of mobility solutions.

Polestar’s flirtations with micro mobility started in 2021 when it introduced the Makka—Polestar Edition in collaboration with Swedish brand Cake, a compact electric moped designed for urban use. Priced at €5,300, it had a limited range but was a notable example of how car manufacturers respond to the demand for sustainable mobility. It sold out immediately.

With the launch of the Elize Polestar Engineered, Polestar hopes to demonstrate that it aspires to be more than just a producer of electric cars. It envisions itself as a complete mobility provider.
