Zeekr launches its new MPV MIX next week

Geely’s premium electric vehicle brand Zeekr is preparing to officially unveil its new mid-sized MPV, the Zeekr MIX, on October 23. With display models arriving in showrooms around the same time, the MIX is expected to generate significant attention due to its advanced design and family-oriented features.

The Zeekr MIX, which is also headed to European markets, helps to reboot the MPV segment, which has been in substantial decline due to the SUV trend and CO2 regulations. However, the all-electric MIX is emission-free and will try to woo family men with functionalities and a design appeal that must rival the Volkswagen ID.Buzz.

Two sliding doors, no B-pillar

The Zeekr MIX retains the bold design cues of its family members in the line-up, such as the Zeekr 007, but introduces features that make it highly practical. The most striking element is its B-pillar-less flanks, which allow for easier entry when the sliding doors are opened. This also enhances the field of view, while the improved accessibility makes it easier to load and unload cargo.

Also, for the inside, Zeekr looked at the success recipe of classic MPVs. The front seats can swivel to face the rear, creating a more interactive and communal space, perfect for family outings. The center armrest console is movable and can be transformed into a small table, further adding versatility. In the rear – often the preferred place in Zeekr’s home country, China, passengers can enjoy leg rests and reclining seats, mirroring the luxury as seen on the larger 7X SUV (not available in Europe).

The dashboard also resembles the setup in the Zeekr 7X. It has a square-shaped central control screen, a semi-circular instrument panel, and an AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display), providing drivers with a modern and intuitive interface.

There’s lengthy, and then there’s longer

That spacious interior stems from the MIX’s dimensions—4,688 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,755 mm in height—along with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. Those who need even more room must turn to the 009 MPV from Zeekr, which has a length of 5.2 meters and a wheelbase of 3.2 meters. Given the presence of two models in the lineup, Zeekr certainly has strong faith in the revival of the MPV.

Back to the MIX. The vehicle builds on the brand’s state-of-the-art SEA-M architecture, which features an 800V high-voltage platform and offers an impressive maximum range of 712 kilometers, according to the optimistic Chinese cycle (CLTC). This marks the MIX as an MPV that is not only suited for daily use but also for long-distance travel, heightening its versatility.

Also at Volvo dealers?

Powering the Zeekr MIX is a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 422 horsepower, allowing it to accelerate confidently and handle various driving conditions. It comes with a 77 kWh battery, and despite its size, Zeekr claims agility with a turning radius of less than 5 meters. Like the EX90 from the sister brand Volvo, the MPV has lidar that supports advanced urban autonomous driving features.

The official launch of the Zeekr MIX will take place at the Hangzhou International Expo Center on October 23. When it will be available in selected international markets like Europe, where it joins the 001 and the X, remains to be seen. The brand is not yet available in Belgium, but as it diverges towards dealer sales in Volvo showrooms, the arrival should be a matter of time.
