Bolt rolls out ‘premium’ green Tesla ride-hailing fleet in Brussels

Mobility platform Bolt has launched a ‘premium’ ride-hailing fleet in the Brussels Capital Region, totaling some 30 bright green Tesla cars. With this initiative, part of a large-scale European initiative, Bolt hopes to support fleet owners in shifting to EVs.

“We are excited to introduce more electric vehicles on our platform in Brussels,” says Paddy Patridge, Bolt’s director of Ride-hailing. “Through this initiative, we are reducing the barriers that prevent many ride-hailing fleet owners from choosing electric vehicles.”

Higher initial purchase costs

Indeed, the main obstacle for Bolt drivers is the higher purchase cost of an EV, as opposed to combustion engine cars. “By addressing these issues through these initiatives, Bolt aims to ease the transition for fleet owners and increase the share of electric cars.”

Fleet owners are companies or individuals that manage vehicles, often for commercial purposes such as cab services. They maintain and rent their vehicles to drivers, who offer rides to customers through platforms such as Bolt.

In ten major EU cities

The company also points out that the poison-green EVs in Brussels should “encourage all residents to choose low-emission means of transportation.” According to Bolt’s recent survey of 500 customers across multiple European countries, 60% of riders are more likely to use ride-hailing services if they have regular access to EVs.

This also aims to make the company greener and more sustainable. By 2040, Bolt aims to become completely climate neutral—most of its greenhouse gas emissions come from ride-hailing services.

The initiative is part of launching a premium fleet in ten major European cities, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, and Tallinn.
