Leaked uncamouflaged picture shows Leapmotor’s new global sedan

Leapmotor, the Chinese electric vehicle start-up partially backed by Stellantis, is gearing up to launch its newest family member in the B-series. After unveiling the B10 SUV at the Paris Motor Show, the brand is preparing the B01 sedan for launch in mid-2025. The brand has also unveiled a longer-range version of the C16, an extended version of the C10 available in Belgium.

The C-series is Leapmotor’s current generation of electric vehicles, exported models initially designed for the Chinese home market. The B-series represents the international league set to make waves on the global playing field.

Leapmotor already chose the Paris Motor Show to unveil the B10 crossover to underscore the broader ambitions of its new range. This SUV will be accompanied by the sedan B01, of which an uncamouflaged leaked picture was published on social media.

Smart driving technology

The B01 was jointly developed with Stellantis and builds upon Leapmotor’s LEAP 3.5 architecture. So, it shares its platform with the B10 and aims to strengthen the brand’s position in the competitive EV market. Assuming the model will expand into European markets later, the B01 will first debut in China, reportedly priced between 100,000 and 150,000 yuan (€13,101 to €19,652).

The leaked images reveal a sleek fastback design with the brand’s typical full-width daytime running lights and distinctive tail lights, showcasing Leapmotor’s newest design language. Black window frames and sporty rearview mirrors add a dynamic edge to the sedan’s profile.

The B01 will integrate Leapmotor’s advanced innovative driving technology, including lidar and the 8650 chip, for autonomous navigation assistance in urban and high-speed scenarios. The electric drivetrain is not yet known. After the B01 and B10, Leapmotor will complement the range with the B05 hatchback.

More extended range for flagship C16

Leapmotor also launched an upgraded lithium iron phosphate battery pack for the C16 SUV, which offers a CLTC-certified range of 580 kilometers. The new pack has a capacity of 74.9 kWh, an improvement over the 67.7 kWh capacity in earlier versions.

Since its launch in June last year, the flagship model C16 has seen strong sales momentum, with total deliveries exceeding 34,679 units by the end of November. The model is a three-row version of the C10, also offered in Belgium. Both vehicles are also available in range extender versions.

In its home country, Leapmotor is on a roll and delivered an impressive 42,517 vehicles in December, a 128% increase year-on-year. For 2024, the company reported total deliveries of 293,724 vehicles, marking a 103% annual growth. For this year, the company aims to sell 500,000 units.
