Upcoming Zeekr 007 GT shooting brake shows its real face

Zeekr, the Swedish-Chinese sister brand of Volvo under the Geely umbrella, first appeared in April 2021 with the 001 shooting brake. Now, it is ready to show the world a second one: a ‘touring’ version called 007 GT, based on the 007 electric sedan that only sells in China for now.

To avoid any confusion with James Bond-style cars, it will be named the Zeekr 7 GT in overseas markets, according to a Chinese media report.

However, as the GT shares its platform and powertrain configurations with the 007 sedan, Bond would undoubtedly be pleased with the 375 kW (502 hp) power provided and the only 2.84 seconds needed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour. Zeekr claims it is the “world’s fastest accelerating mid-level pure electric car.”

First three ‘production-ready’ images

After some teaser images, Zeekr published on Weibo the first three photos of the GT production version in its full glory three months before its official launch in China in Q2 of 2025. Zeekr CEO Andy An said earlier this month the brand will launch three new models in China in 2025, starting in Q2.

In Europe, including in Sweden, where Zeekr shares its R&D and headquarters in Gothenburg with Lynk & Co, currently, three models are sold: the 001 shooting brake, the Zeekr X, twin-brother to the Volvo EX30, and the newly introduced flagship SUV, the Zeekr 7x. In China, Zeekr introduced the 007 sedan already a year ago, on December 27th, 2023.

The Zeekr 007 GT inherits the same front end as the sedan. The side profile has a longer body with a gentler roofline, which allows for extra rear luggage space and more headroom on the second row.

Four variants

It will be available in China in four variants: two rear-wheel drive versions and two all-wheel drive versions, with two battery options. The rear-wheel-drive version features a 310 kW motor, achieving 0 to 100 km/hour in 5.4 seconds.

A standard-range (LFP) battery would allow a range of 616 km (CLTC),  870 km for the (NMC) long-range version. Similar ranges for the all-wheel-drive version, which combines a 165 kW front motor and a 310 kW rear motor for a total output of 375 kW.

Chinese media estimate prices to be somewhat the same as those of the sedan, between 209,900 yuan (27,770 euros) for the base RWD version and 299,900 yuan (39,683 euros) for the top AWD variant.

While the sedan wasn’t introduced in Europe (yet?), the shooting break or ‘touring’ version—GT stands for ‘Grand Tour’ in this—is more likely to appeal to European taste, as proven by the Zeekr 001, which is one of Zeekr’s leading sellers. From January until November 2024, Zeekr sold 92,289 of them, representing 47.34%.

Golden Battery

In August 2024, Zeekr claimed a new record for its updated 2024 Zeekr 007 sedan with the ‘Golden Battery,’ which can charge from 10 to 80% in 10.5 minutes—4.5 minutes faster than the first generation.

The second generation of Zeekr’s Golden Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, has a charging speed from 4.5C to 5.5C. Zeekr says that it is outperforming all current mass-produced lithium ternary batteries. It can add 265 kilometers of CLTC range on a 5-minute charge and 582 kilometers on a 15-minute charge.
