D’Ieteren Energy unites EDI and Go Solar in one-stop shop

D’Ieteren Automotive, Belgium’s largest car importer of all Volkswagen brands, with branches in energy services, is merging its charging business (EDI) and solar production and battery storage solutions (Go Solar) into one single unit, “D’Ieteren Energy.”

The group is also active in other mobility sectors related to cycling (Lucien, Joule), shared mobility (Poppy, TaxisVerts), and micromobility (Microlino).

Energy ecosystem

Tangi Merckx, CEO of former EDI—Electric by D’Ieteren, manages the united D’Ieteren Energy entity. Merckx says, “Since its launch in 2019, EDI has supported the transition to electromobility by offering innovative charging solutions to individuals and businesses.”

“The merger with Go-Solar and the introduction of energy management technologies into our offering have allowed us to create a true energy ecosystem step by step.”

“Today, we combine all our activities under a single name, D’Ieteren Energy. And just like our parent company D’Ieteren in the automotive sector, D’Ieteren Energy has the ambition to serve our customers in the field of energy for many years to come.

20,000 charging points

D’Ieteren Energy will act as a one-stop shop for charging services and products, solar panels, and battery storage systems for private and business users.

Some 60,000 people use the charging services badge, and EDI has established 20,000 charging points. Go Solar currently installs up to 4,500 photovoltaic installations per year.

For companies at the fleet level, DIeteren Energy supports them in transitioning to a fleet of electric vehicles, with charging solutions on the company site, at employees homes, and on public roads.

A new fleet platform, developed in collaboration with Mbrella, offers integration with HR, IT, and payroll systems, automatic reimbursement to employees via their salary, accurate reporting, cost control parameters, and anomaly and fraud detection.
