Chinese Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype fastest 4-door car on Nürburgring

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi and also making a successful entry as an electric carmaker, proudly announces that its SU7 Ultra prototype has become the fastest 4-door car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It recorded a time of 6 minutes 46.874 seconds, making it quicker than the Ferrari 296 GTB, the Porsche 918 Spyder, or the Rimac Nevera.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype is the development mule of the future SU7 Ultra. This four-door electric family car with Xiaomi’s V8s motor produces a whopping 1,526 hp and can reach 100 km/hour in only 1.97 seconds.

Nürburgring Nordschleife record holder

After choosing to go from smartphones to cars it launched the SU7 in China, a car even Ford boss Jim Farley admitted he’s secretly test-driving around Detroit and not willing to give it up.

The company showcased the new sports version of it, the SU7 Ultra in its prototype form during the summer. The aim was precise: Xiaomi wanted the fastest four-door car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

This month, that dream became a reality. After failing three times due to heavy rain, Xiaomi went for its final attempt on October 24th at 11:50 a.m. Not much later, Nürburgring officials validated the time as 6 minutes 46.874 seconds for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype. This makes it officially the fastest four-door vehicle on the Nordschleife, with the added caveat of being for prototypes/pre-production vehicles.

Faster than Porsche and Rimac

With this impressive time, the new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype shatters the Porsche Taycan GT’s record of 7 minutes 07.55 seconds and the 1,914-hp electric supercar Rimac Nevera’s time of 7 minutes 05.298 seconds. Therefore, not only does this make the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype the fastest four-door on the Nordschleife, but it also makes it the fastest (pre) production EV.

Race-prepped EV

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype is powered by the brand’s self-developed ‘V8s’ motors, each producing a maximum of 548 hp on the rear and one ‘V6’ motor on the front wheels.

These names have nothing to do with combustion engines, as the SU7 is fully electric. Its total power is 1,548 hp, which allows the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype to reach 100 km/hour in only 1.97 seconds and 200 km/hour in under six seconds.

That powerhouse of an electric car is equipped with all the necessary aero tricks, including a chin spoiler and a large rear spoiler that wouldn’t be out of place on a Le Mans prototype. For the record, it’s also clear that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype was equipped with special racing tires.
